Gurgewl X-12 was manufactured by Gurgel Engines S / A.
Body glass fiber attached to a metallic tubular chassis called "plasteel". He had rear-wheel drive and used the gear box and boxer engines 1.3 and 1.6 of the VW Beetle, provided by Volkswagen of Brazil. The DNA VW is also present in the design, apparently an evolution of Kübelwagen used in the second war. This Gurgel X-12 is also a useful and cheap off-road vehicle and had an effective locking (Blocking) system of the rear wheels called "Selectration". How it works: If you are stuck in the mud you can block with the selective handbrake lever the sliding wheel and transfer the traction to the stuck wheel... and you will be free! Really a great help in mud roads.
